Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500RCCE Acoustic Guitar:
The EF500RCCE definitely stands out among the rest of the amazing guitars in the Masterbilt series. Masterbilt's first started in the 1930's, and are still to this day some of the top of the line products that Epiphone makes. The same spirit and timeless innovation still holds true to the Masterbilt series, just as it did in the 30's, and you'll be able to hear and feel it through this guitar. This particular model has the classic "orchestra" shape to the body and a very generous cutaway for easy playing up the neck.
Giving the EF500RCCE it's shape is a Solid Cedar Top with Mahogany back and sides. Cedar is a highly sought after top of acoustic guitars for it's inherently amazing projection, and overall tone, and for the fact that the sound gets substantially better with age much quicker than a Spruce top will. In addition, the guitar also features hand-scalloped Sitka Spruce braces, with a bone nut and saddle. The neck has a 25.5" scale, a dove tail neck joint at the 14th fret, just like on the classic Masterbilts from the 30's, and a 1.75" nut width.
As fantastic as this guitar sounds unplugged, it sounds just as amazing when plugged in thanks to its new eSonic2HD™ preamp which as a built in tuner, made in cooperation with Shadow Germany. It also has NanoFlex HD™ Tone, NanoMag™ Tone, stereo blend, and a phase switch to help eliminate unwanted feedback. This preamps runs to a Nanomag neck pickup and an under the saddle pickup for the great amplified acoustic sounds that Epiphone is known for. These pickups can also be used simultaneously, or individually, as well as blended back and forth.
The preamp uses two AAA batteries that are not only lightweight, but provide significantly longer life than old-fashioned, heavy 9V batteries.
