The Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rail has all the sound and function of a humbucker in the size of a single coil. The SHR-1 is one a very strong, high-output pickup. It provides that great tone of a hot humbucker without the hum that a single coil will give you. The SHR-1 has two thin blades between its coil windings which give the pickup its great output, great sustain, and a fat and chunky overall tone that's great for the hard rock or heavy metal player, but also works well in blues and jazz.
This unique pickup from Seymour Duncan has a great response and is sensetive to even the most subtle finger movements, which makes the pickup great for tricky, individual note soloing, harmonics, and more. While the SHR-1 is generally associated with heavy rock, it does well in lighter, bluesier or jazz styles as well. If you've been looking for a hot single coil pickup without all the hum that comes with it, then the SHR-1 should work great without any needed routing that you would have to do with your typical humbucker swap.
