This is a used vintage 1978 Fender Tele in good condition. This vintage piece has been loved and played for many years, so of course it has some wear to it. The most obvious thing to address is the refinish that has been done to it. The original color was gloss black which was stripped to show the natural wooden finish instead. The body was also sanded where the forearms rest. These refinishes however were strictly cosmetic and had no actual effect on the playability of the guitar itself. There are also plenty of scratches, dings, and noticeable wear on the pickguard and the body all around. Still, none of these mess with the sound or play quality in any way.
The neck is maple and very round, definitely a good one for those who enjoy a thicker neck. The action is a little high but nothing that cannot be adjusted to a suitable height. The headstock also has noticeable wear but it does have the original tuners on it and the original writing/branding is visible. The string tree hooked to the 2 lighter strings is original as well but the one side is not.
One of the most important things is the fact that the pickups are original. Lindy Fralin rewound the original bridge pickup and replaced the bobbin as well. The neck pickup is also original and both of them work perfectly fine. The original owner, however, did re-route for a Nashville set up so there is a spot cut into the body for a third pickup but the pickguard does cover this and it doesn't affect sound whatsoever. The guitar sounds incredible because of its old make and og pickups that give it that well-known Fender sound that Fender lovers enjoy!
The case is in great shape and all of the latches work to keep the guitar secure. It is a hard shell gator case that fits the guitar nicely and keeps it secure. There are no cracks or damage that would affect the job of the case, just your regular wear and scratches from it being carried around.
From what we can tell, the tuners, both pots, the one string tree, both pickups, and the tailpiece are all original parts of this guitar, however, the pickguard, the 2nd string tree, the case, and the selector switch are not.
Overall, this is an extremely cool vintage piece that was played and loved for many many years and is ready to go to the next owner who will adore it just as much as the last. The guitar sounds and plays fantastic despite its age and would be a great investment for those looking for a vintage Fender piece to rock out on or for those who love telecasters and are looking for a cool upgrade!
